Lighting and stage designer Gerardo J. Rodríguez had fun with the dot2 XL-B while working at Megaland Festival in Bogota for the artist Farruko.
Here is what he has to say about the console: “Starting with it’s dimensions and portability, at just 8 kilos the dot2 is perfect for touring. The ethernet interface is just remarkable. The user interface is really simple for programmers. Nothing is hidden. Everything is pretty much at hand. Patching the console is very simple. The fact that the dot2 has a “Fixture ID view page” is awesome when organising your fixtures. After that, it was just a matter of building the showfile to my liking.”
Rodríguez continued: “I generally use a punt-type showfile for my artist. The dot2 is perfect for punting. Palettes work just as they do on a grandMA2, same thing with cue recording. The effect builder is just fabulous. I just love that I can find all the basic effects use them in a lighting show and there’s no need to fight with shapes, parameters, etc. Again, I was really pleased with the console and I would definitely use it again and recommend it to my fellow programmers.”
